Library

The Specialized Library of the Civic Photographic Archives is open for consultation on the premises by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 14.00.

The Library was established in 2001 by will of the Conservator in charge of the Institute as a Library specialized in the history of photography. It includes monographs, periodicals, essays, exhibition catalogs, auction catalogs, valuable author's photographic books. Noteworthy is the presence of an important section devoted to the catalogs of photography firms between the 19th and 20th centuries (including Alinari, Anderson, Brogi, Braun, Montabone catalogs); magazines such as "Camera," "Il Progresso Fotografico," "Études Photographiques," "AFT. Semiannual of the Tuscan Photographic Archives," "Photology," "RSF. Journal of Photography Studies," "Transbordeur Photographie." The Library hosts in storage a part of Paolo Monti’s and Carla Cerati’s libraries.

The Library takes part in the National Library System through the Lombard Regional Pole and is not open-shelf. Catalogs can be consulted online through the OPAC SBN (https://www.biblioteche.regione.lombardia.it/opac2/LO1/ricercaAvanzata) after selecting, in the drop-down menu Polo Libraries, the Civic Photographic Archive Library (MI1978).

Requests for publications to be consulted at the Institute's Study Room should be made exclusively by e-mail ([email protected]).Neither home loan nor interlibrary loan is provided.
